1-2-1 COACHING SESSIONS

Practical training for everyday life

Book an assessment

Tailored, one-on-one sessions for you and your dog, designed to achieve your unique training goals.

Your first session (Initial Assessment) focuses on understanding your dog, assessing their behaviour, and setting a personalised training plan.

Follow-on sessions build on this foundation, refining skills, tackling challenges, and progressing toward your goals over time. These sessions cover essential life skills such as loose lead walking, recall, foundational puppy training, or behaviour modification for reactivity to dogs, cars, or people. Training takes place in real-world environments, the places where you’ll be walking and working with your dog daily. If behavioural issues are a factor, we’ll start in a quieter setting to establish strong handling foundations before moving to more challenging situations.

Coaching is owner-focused, meaning you’ll learn how to train your dog yourself, giving you the confidence to implement what you’ve learned between sessions. If you have a specific goal or location in mind, we’ll tailor the series of sessions to achieve it efficiently and effectively.

Nadine & Karma

Jess has helped me with my 3 year old rottie Karma and has completely changed both of our lives. Karma was getting a challenge to walk as her prey drive is very high and anywhere we went she’d scan the environment, have 0 engagement, lunge, chase or drag me after any animal she could see or smell, it really wasn’t enjoyable for either of us! She couldn’t be off lead or even walk nicely on a lead. Karma has gone from being completely checked out from me to now being able to off lead heel anywhere and have amazing recall even off prey which I NEVER thought was possible! But she now has the off lead freedom she deserves and is completely thriving in life:) Jess really has been amazing and she’s always been there for advice between 1:1 lessons, highly recommend her and the knowledge she has. I now have a completely different dog that i actually enjoy walking.

Ebony & Lenny

I 10000% recommend Jess to anyone! Lenny is/was a reactive dog who really struggled with other dogs being in his space. To manage that, he would rush them and sometimes pin them. His recall was non-existent, and walking him became incredibly difficult as he pulled so much on the lead that I actually ended up needing to see a chiropractor because my shoulder started playing up. To make things harder, Lenny had zero food motivation, so rewarding him felt almost impossible, and on walks I honestly felt completely irrelevant to him. A friend recommended Jess to me, and at first I was reluctant because I’d already been to three trainers before with no real success. They all seemed to say the same things. But after seeing the progress my friend’s dog had made, I decided to give Jess a go and I’m so glad I did. Jess takes the time to understand every dog’s individual needs. She didn’t just focus on what Lenny was doing, but why he was doing it, which made such a huge difference. She gave me practical, tailored advice that I could actually go home and work on consistently. One thing I never thought would happen was overcoming Lenny’s lack of food motivation! He now happily takes food as a reward! I’ve been working with Jess monthly since August, and I’m so excited to say that Lenny is now happily off lead and we can finally enjoy our walks together again. Not only has Lenny’s training improved massively, but our relationship and his overall happiness have improved too. I honestly wouldn’t recommend anyone else. The support Jess has given us has been amazing, and I’m so incredibly grateful for all of her help.

Jess & Rexa

I reached out to Jess 7 months ago to help with my 1 year old Cane Corso, Rexa. From the first moment Jess has gone above and beyond for both of us. Rexa wasn’t straightforward, we spent a couple of months trouble shooting various issues before we could get to work on sorting her reactivity - we spent lots of time building her confidence and improving her relationship with food. Jess not only supported us through all of this but took the time to explain the thinking behind the method which helped me trust in the process. When we had a big set back Jess was at the other end of the phone and made space for us to come and see her that week so we could get things back on track quickly. At the beginning of this process Rexa was frustrated, conflicted and lacked clarity, and our relationship was taking the hit because of it. She was unsure of the world and lacked a huge amount of confidence which was presenting itself as lead reactivity, dog reactivity, people reactivity and her frustration would manifest itself as mouthing at me. As a handler I also lacked confidence and clarity which meant I felt way out my depth and like I was failing Rexa badly. Lots of months of hard work later Rexa is like a different dog, she now has full off lead freedom and gets to enjoy being a dog safely. She is not frustrated because she understands what is being asked of her, the rules have been explained to her a clear and fair way, she has had lots of reinforcement for making good decisions. Our relationship has improved massively she now trusts that I will keep her safe and looks for my guidance when she is unsure. Jess not only took the time to teach Rexa new things but she also made me a much better handler in the process and that to me is invaluable. We both owe Jess an awful lot and I cannot recommend her enough, she’s been truly life changing for us.

Steve & Nala

Jess has been absolutely amazing with helping train our German Shepherd. Our dog was so reactive (not in an aggressive way, but playful) so dog walks were so difficult as we tried to avoid dogs where possible. She was also hard to walk due to her pulling on the lead constantly. Walks were more of a battle than an enjoyment. We tried a few different dog trainers, who no offence to them are nowhere near as good as Jess. Jess has completely transformed our dog in such a great way. We now have amazing dog walks, even off lead! It's incredible. She is really friendly, explains things clearly and is of course amazing with dogs - Nala loves her! Thank you for making our lives easier. If you are looking for a dog trainer, definitely use Jess!

1-2-1 COACHING FAQs

  • I am based in Southampton, Hampshire. My sessions are designed to reflect real-world scenarios, so training takes place in local green spaces or other environments that best support the specific needs of each dog.

  • The approach varies depending on the dog. I believe in training in real-world environments, as that's where you'll be walking and working with your dog daily. For behavioural challenges, we begin in quiet, controlled settings to establish strong foundational handling skills before progressing to more complex environments. If you have a specific goal or location in mind, we can tailor the sessions to work towards achieving that over time.

  • Fox K9 Training is a judgement-free zone. Your first session will be all about getting to know you and your dog, discussing any challenges you're facing, and understanding your goals. There's no need to worry about your dog's current behaviour or training level - this is a safe space for growth. I use your dog's daily food for training, so please bring it along in a pouch, along with their collar, lead, and either a longline or flexi-lead. If you have any questions or concerns before your session, don't hesitate to reach out - I'm here to help!

  • Not at all! It's never too late to begin training your dog. If you have a puppy, we can start building strong foundations right away to help them grow into a well-rounded dog. For older dogs of any age, we'll work together to understand your goals and create a tailored plan to achieve them.

  • I offer 1-2-1 sessions to provide dedicated, personalised attention for you and your dog. These sessions are especially important for behaviour modification, where you'll learn how to handle your dog and, if beneficial, gradually work with my stooge dogs to enhance their training.

Group classes are available for regular clients and you’ll be invited to join once your dog’s training reaches a level that’s suitable for a group environment.

  • 1-2-1 sessions are typically 1 hour long, but longer sessions can be arranged if you're traveling from a distance or if your dog requires more intensive training.

  • If both of your dogs require training for behavioural issues it's best to book separate sessions to ensure each dog receives the focused attention they need. However, if you're looking for general obedience training, I can arrange 1.5-hour sessions that can be split between the two dogs. Please email me for further details.

  • The frequency of sessions depends on the specific challenges you're addressing with your dog. For foundational training, such as loose lead walking and recall, I recommend scheduling sessions every 2 weeks to once a month to maintain steady progress until you're satisfied with your dog's behaviour. For more complex training and behaviour modification, weekly to bi-weekly sessions are ideal, as regular adjustments may be necessary to ensure consistent progress.
